Spending time outdoors is practically required on a trip to Kent. The natural scenery, paved trails, themed playgrounds, golf options and other activities showcase the best of the PNW.

Day 1

A la Mexicana Burgers is a permanent food truck with generous-sized burgers. The menu includes tacos, asada fries and kids’ options, too. Covered outdoor tables are great for summer dining.

After lunch, walk over to Kent Memorial Park for a game of Wiffle ball at WIFFCO Field. There’s also a playground and a court for pickleball or tennis.

Challenge your skills with the small ball on the miniature golf course at Kent Valley Ice Centre. Play the outdoor, 18-hole course for about $10 per person.

Prefer a different type of golf? Lake Fenwick Park has a disc golf course with a mix of open lines and challenging wooded areas.

About a mile away is West Fenwick Park, home of the playground that resembles a classic board game! “Slides and Climbers” has brightly colored pathways and accessible activities for all kids to enjoy.

Outdoor dining at Kent Station includes Agave Cantina, Duke’s Seafood, Mama Stortini’s and The Ram. Bonus: Visit on select summer Wednesday nights and see Kent Parks’ Summer Concert Series.

Day 2

Fill up on breakfast favorites at Maggie’s on Meeker. Generous portions and friendly staff are a staple of this longtime downtown diner.

The short walk to Kherson Park will take you a world away. The space-themed park includes a replica lunar rover, space capsule climbing structure and interactive control center. The park also incorporates Space for Kidz, an augmented reality app.

Get behind the wheel at the PGP Motorsports go-kart track! Rain or shine, you can race your friends around the .82-mile track in a 13-minute session.

Time to refuel at JP’s Taproom & Grill. The wide-ranging menu features local products, gluten-free options and kid-friendly meals. Their beer taps include several of JP’s own brews.

Riverbend Golf Complex has a scenic 18-hole course and driving range. The popular city-owned course is known to be player-friendly and well-maintained.

Wrap up your visit with happy hour or dinner at Harp Bar & Restaurant, right next to the golf course. Try traditional Irish food and ales on the outdoor patio at this family-friendly dining spot.
