Concerts and a corn maze, hockey plays and drinks for chilly days. Here’s your guide to fun fall things to do in Kent—and suggestions for eats and drinks along the way.
Make way for music
Nationally recognized artists will make their way to Kent this fall. Lamb of God (heavy metal), Gloria Trevi (Mexican pop) and Los Tigres del Norte (Latin Grammy Award winners) are scheduled at ShoWare Center.
Leave home early and have dinner before the concert at Taqueria el Sabor, Paolo’s Italian Restaurant or a stop on the Kent Food Trails you haven’t tried yet.
Family fun on the farm
A visit to Carpinito Brothers will put you in a festive fall mood. Starting Sept. 30, you can wander the pumpkin patch to choose just the right future jack-o-lantern, then lead your group through the corn maze. Baby farm animals, rubber duck races, a hay maze and corn pit are just right for young family members.
Fuel up before or after the farm day at the kid-friendly Skooder’s Hot Dogs or Maggie’s on Meeker. If it’s a cloudy day, the hot drinks from Dilettante Mocha Café at Kent Station will taste even better.
Hockey heroes are back
Last season, the Seattle Thunderbirds played in the Western Hockey League championship series. While they didn’t win it all, they’re ready for another run starting October 1 at ShoWare Center. Get tickets for a game (or two or three) and prepare for the fun, spirited atmosphere of T’birds hockey.
Before you take your seats at the arena, pull up a chair for beer and burgers at Airways Bistro & Beer Garden, just a few blocks away. Or, try the nachos or shrimp penne with a glass of wine or craft beer at Red’s Wine Bar.
Bounty of beverages
Thirsty? Fall is full of celebrations and events to enjoy with a favorite beverage.
- The Downtown Kent Wine Walk is October 7, from 6-9 p.m., starting at Sweet Themes Bakery. Your event ticket includes 10 tastings of wine and spirits while you stroll downtown shops and enjoy live music. Tip: bring your own glass!
- Add warmth to the cool days when you schedule a tea tasting with friends at Serenity Moon Tea. Souffle, egg waffles, pudding and other Asian sweets pair well with the tea served at ZZ Dessert.
- Coffee lovers, mark your calendars for National Cappuccino Day on Nov. 11 and National Espresso Day on Nov. 23. You might want to make it a tasting day to sample the varieties from Wild Wheat Bakery, Macrina Bakery or Java Junction.
